Anyone can enter the Nutrition Coach program and complete the course. However, to become a Certified Nutrition Coach with the Institute, you will have to provide proof of an undergraduate qualification that includes Anatomy & Physiology. If you do not have this, consider our bridging course the Certificate in Foundations of Nutrition Science to start your journey into nutrition coaching.

He earned pro status as a natural bodybuilder with the PNBA in 2011 and competes with the IPF at international level events as an unequipped powerlifter. Eric has published multiple peer-reviewed articles in exercise science and nutrition journals and writes for commercial fitness publications.

Cliff Harvey PhD, DipFit, DipNat, is a nutritionist, naturopath, author, life and purpose coach, and researcher. In over two decades of practice he has helped thousands of people to achieve their goals, from those who are chronically and acutely unwell, through to elite-level athletes, and ‘elite-attitude’ business people and entrepreneurs. He is an active researcher and is known for performing foundational research on keto-flu, ketogenic supplements, and 'carbohydrate tolerance' between individuals. Cliff is a best-selling author of several books and is a former world champion strength athlete, and competitive submission wrestler.

  • What qualification will I receive?

    Successful graduates of program with receive a certification in nutrition coaching (Certified Holistic & Performance Nutrition Coach). Graduates will the be able to continue to the Holistic & Performance Nutritionist Certification.

  • What does this qualification allow me to do?

    This course allows you to add to your existing qualifications and become a 'Certified Nutrition Coach'. This means that you can prescribe nutrition plans for the support of health and support and improvement of performance. Those wanting to learn more about treating disease and disorder with nutrition medicine can also progress after completing this qualification, to our more advanced Holistic & Performance Nutritionist course.

  • Has this qualification been assessed by a government body?

    The New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) has evaluated the Certified Holistic and Performance Nutrition Coach (Micro-credential) delivered by Holistic Performance Limited and has assessed it to be equivalent to 35 credits (350 notional learning hours) at Level 5 on the New Zealand Qualifications Framework (NZQF).

  • What pre-requisites does the course have?

    Anyone can complete this course in nutrition for personal interest but to graduate as a Certified Nutrition Coach, you must have completed an undergraduate certificate, diploma or degree that includes Anatomy & Physiology and Basic Nutrition Science (many personal training courses are also eligible for entry) OR have completed our bridging course (the Certificate in Foundations of Nutrition Science).

  • I'm already a nutritionist/dietitian/medical doctor - would I benefit from this program?

    Yes!
    Although many nutrition and dietetics programs are very thorough in terms of either basic or clinical nutrition, they often don't specifically address the most current aspects of nutrition, are not holistic basis AND evidence-based, and most are lacking in 'Carbohydrate Appropriate' diet concepts like ketogenic diets, low-carbohydrate, and high-fat and high-protein nutrition. They also may lack in providing the 'real world' skills to actually be effective in practice.

  • Can I earn continuing education credits?

    Yes!
    Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs), the New Zealand Clinical Association (CNA), and other organisations recognise HPI courses for continuing education credits.

  • How long does the program take?

    This program is designed to be completed in less than 12 months by working professionals. (Approximately 300 hrs)
