This course had so much more than how to be a successful health coach, it overlaps into problem-solving skills for both yourself and your nearest and dearest. This course has seen more clients and family reach their goals successfully as I now partner with them in uncovering what they truly desire not some predestined idea of what I believe health is.Read Less

I signed up to do this practicum purely for registration purposes having already completed health coach training with another school. I learnt so much and feel that the knowledge gained from this practicum has really improved my work with clients, I have seen improvements in their successes also. I now truly listen to hear what clients are saying, and not with feeling like I need to 'fix' them to be a successful health coach. Michelle's knowledge, wisdom and vast experience with non diet approaches in health care really shone through and I've finished the practicum armed with some amazing skills to benefit myself and my clients. Thank you!Read Less

What does this qualification allow me to do?
This course allows you to become a 'Certified Holistic & Performance Nutrition Coach'.
This means that you can prescribe nutrition and health plans for the support of health and support and improvement of performance.
In addition, those choosing our Health Coaching track will also learn additional skills in the areas of behaviour change, health coaching methods, and various add-on modules on various aspects of evidence-based holistic health (and can register as Health Coaches with HCANZA), while Sports Nutritionist track graduates can gain accreditation and insurance with the Sports Nutrition Association.

What pre-requisites does the course have?
To enter the HPN1 courses (Health Coach or Sports Nutritionist tracks) you must have completed an undergraduate certificate, diploma or degree and have at least completed a paper in Anatomy & Physiology. Most personal training courses are also eligible for entry. If you do not hold these entry qualifications you can complete our bridging course (the Certificate in Foundations of Nutrition Science) before moving into HPN1.
I'm already a nutritionist/dietitian/medical doctor - would I benefit from this program?
Although many nutrition and dietetics programs are very thorough in terms of either basic or clinical nutrition, they often don't specifically address the most current aspects of nutrition, are not holistic AND evidence-based, and most are lacking in 'Carbohydrate Appropriate' diet concepts like ketogenic diets, low-carbohydrate, and high-fat and high-protein nutrition. They also may lack in providing the 'real world' skills to actually be effective in practice.
In addition, you can choose to work as a Health Coach or Sports Nutritionist depending on which track you choose.
Can I earn continuing education credits?
the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs), the New Zealand Clinical Association (CNA), and other organisations recognise HPI courses for continuing education credits.
How long does the program take?
This program is designed to be completed in less than 12 months by working professionals. (Approximately 350 hrs)
